On August 11, the Social Security Administration (also known as the SSA) announced that it would be adding thirteen new medical conditions to its “compassionate allowances” list. As a result, people who have these conditions can avoid many of the hurdles that people ordinarily face when seeking Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). These conditions are severe medical conditions that are often permanently disabling, if not life-threatening. SSA Adds 12 New Conditions to Compassionate Allowances List
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that it is adding twelve new conditions to the list of Compassionate Allowances. This will allow people with these specific disabilities to more easily obtain Social Security disability benefits, such as Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This, in turn, will help them to cover their expenses while they are dealing with the effects of their medical conditions.
